Dear  Friend,

Thank you for your continued advocacy & efforts! EVERY issue on our 2021 policy agenda has passed out of committee!
Key priorities:
  1. Senate Bill 1, would standardize race, ethnicity, & language (REL) data; declare racism a public health crisis; and define the doula profession.
  2. Access to HUSKY (Medicaid) is expanded in Senate Bill 1056 and there is a small increase in Medicaid eligibility for parents in the state budget.
  3. House Bill 6662, would declare racism a public health crisis and embed anti-racism in Connecticut's governance!  More details can be found here.
How do these issues advance health equity?
REL data measures the impacts of racism, a declaration acknowledges racism’s impact on health and creates a commission to address these, doulas are one critical part of addressing disparities in birth outcomes, and HUSKY programs provide affordable access to comprehensive health insurance.
