The Connecticut Insurance Department held its annual Health Insurance Rate Review on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, ConnectiCare, and UnitedHealthcare proposed rate increases of 8.3% for individual plans and 11.9% for small group plans.
  • The proposed increases would impact an estimated 200,000 residents and exacerbate the burden on those already struggling with healthcare costs. Read more here

The CT Department of Social Services (DSS) has rescheduled the launch of the HUSKY Maternity Bundle Payment Program to January 1, 2025.

  • This program aims to enhance maternal health and address health disparities by improving care quality and access for HUSKY Health members.
  • DSS has delayed the program launch to make improvements and offer more support based on stakeholder feedback. Stakeholders will continue to receive updates and have chances to provide input and ask questions.

What are Community Conversations? Community involvement is essential to effective policymaking. Each year, Health Equity Solutions organizes Community Conversations to understand the health equity issues that matter most to Connecticut residents. During these discussions, participants share their perspectives on health equity and healthcare and express their interest in contributing to this work. The insights gathered from these sessions inform our annual policy agenda.

Join The Intersection, convened by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, on September 4, 2024, as leaders in advocacy and healthcare share their insights on identifying crucial data for health equity and how to partner with communities to overcome challenges. Answer the Call to Improve Your Community w/ DataHaven 

How happy are you? Are the public parks in your area in excellent, good, fair, or poor condition? When was the last time you saw a dentist? DataHaven is reaching out to Connecticut residents to learn about community well-being! Thousands of randomly selected residents in each town will receive phone calls from survey-takers at the Siena College Research Institute. Learn more about the survey here!

The Groundwater Approach: Building a practical understanding of structural racism.

As part of its commitment to advancing racial equity, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven is offering free access to The Groundwater Approach workshop. The virtual session will explore systemic racism and racial disparities through data and historical analysis. The first session will be on Wednesday, September 11th at 9:00 AM. The Bridge Project: $750 A Month for Pregnant People 

Do you know anyone pregnant in CT? The Bridge Project wants to connect with pregnant people for the launch of a new unconditional cash transfer program.
