Medical mistrust refers to a lack of confidence in the medical system and in the intentions of a medical professional(s). Medical mistrust is a self-preserving response derived from historical or recent trauma caused by discrimination in health care settings. 

 
 
 
 

🎉 The CHW coalition is celebrating the new law requiring Medicaid to cover comprehensive CHW services and gearing up to monitor and influence its implementation. This legislative victory was the result of 2 years of collaboration with the Community Health Worker Association of Connecticut and a coalition of over 100 CHWs and allies.

  • Calling all CHWs! Are you a Community Health Worker and are interested in learning more about caring for individuals with developmental disorders, while also sharing your feedback with us? If so, HES is hosting a two-part pilot series aimed at gaining an understanding of foundational concepts related to developmental disabilities, race, intersectionality, and related disparate health outcomes for people living with developmental disabilities, to then learn methods to equitably serve individuals living with developmental disabilities such as, but not limited to, intellectual and developmental disabilities, Level 3 Autism, Anxiety, Behavioral Disorders, and other psychiatric conditions.
