This initiative was developed through collaborative efforts, particularly championed by the Commission on Racial Equity in Public Health, co-chaired by our ED Ayesha Clarke.
- The executive order implements many of the recommendations from the Commission's report, 'Dismantling Structural Racism within State Government,' which underscored the need for equity plans and other essential measures, including the Governor's plan to hire a Chief Equity and Opportunity Officer.
- We are pleased to see that the executive order reflects much of the language in the amendment to SB 414, which HES testified in support of during the legislative session. This executive order marks a significant advancement for Connecticut, offering a pivotal opportunity to promote transparency and embed equity across state agencies.
